Claim Your Apple Maps Location

In today’s hyper competitive market, local search is incredibly important. But, in local search it isn’t the local directories that are important. It is all about the mapping services. Any effective local search optimization strategy requires claiming your location on all relevant mapping services.

As more and more people search through mobile devices the default mapping services on Android and Apple devices become the default local search tools. But, until now, claiming your business address on Apple Maps was not an easy task.

With the release of iOS 8.3 business owners can now claim their business on the Apple Maps service. Unfortunately, while this feature is now available, and easy to use, Apple does not make it clear how to claim your business.

That’s where we step in.

To claim your business, open Apple’s Maps app and search for your business. Chances are Apple already has your business listed. That’s great news! But, because Apple pulls data in from various sources, it is unlikely the listing is correct. Maybe the name of your company is in all caps, maybe the zip is wrong, or maybe the pin is not at your building’s entrance. All of this is easy to fix.

Only the next step is counter-intuitive. To claim your address, tap the pin for you location on the map, and then tap Report a Problem. Why doesn’t Apple have a Claim Your Business option? Why Report a Problem? We have no idea.

At the bottom of the Report a Problem screen is the option to Claim this business. From there you should be all set! Some people have told us this method does not work for them. If that is the case for you, then try visiting:

and logging in with your Apple ID and Password.
